Hartlepool DockFest 2009 - Dock Fest 09

Dockfest is a live music and comedy weekend at Hartlepool Marina on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2009. The Lightning Seeds have been unveiled as the headline music act.

The centrepiece will be a ‘Big Entertainment Tent’ in front of Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience – a giant marquee which will host the music line-up on the Saturday and a programme of comedy on the Sunday.

The North-East's biggest Comedy Club is coming to Hartlepool's Dockfest in July!

Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council and promoters Ten Feet Tall, plans are now in full swing for a special 700 capacity comedy tent on Sunday 5 July, with a family show on the afternoon, followed by the now legendary Big Mouth Comedy Club on the evening!

Live Music!
Eleven artists will perform in a Big Entertainment Tent located in front of Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience in the marina on Saturday July 4.

Top of the bill are the Lightning Seeds who will be on stage from 10.15-11.30pm.

They will be preceded by the following programme:

1.45-2.15pm: The winner of a local Battle of the Bands

2.30-3pm: The Blitz Evra, an intricate three-piece from Hartlepool

3.15-3.45pm: In Moscow,

4-4.30pm: Lithium Speed Dementia, a three-piece pop/punk/electro band from Hartlepool

4.45-5.15pm: Dave Mosley

5.30-6pm: Demon Summer, who are currently recording their second album

6.15-6.45pm: Young Rebel Set, who promise a rousing performance of gritty urban folk

7-7.30pm: The Chapman Family, said to be inspired as much by folk music as hardcore punk

7.50-8.30pm: Nine Black Alps, a Manchester-based rock band that has gained a reputation for loud and aggressive yet melodic music

8.50-9.40pm: The John Power Band, which is fronted by singer-songwriter and former bass player for the La's, John Power

10.15-11.30pm: The Lightning Seeds

The Big Entertainment Tent will be unticketed on Saturday July 4 and once full will operate a one out, one in system.

Headline Act - Sean Lock
Winner of a coveted British Comedy Award for ‘Best Live Performer,’ and described by Ricky Gervais as ‘one of the most influential British stand-ups of the last 10 years,’ Sean is known to millions as team captain on Channel 4’s ‘8 Out of 10 Cats.’

He also wrote and starred in cult BBC sitcom ’15 Storeys High,’ and numerous other TV credits include BBC1’s ‘Live at the Apollo,’ BBC2’s ‘QI,’ Dave’s ‘Argumental,’

Also in the line up are:

Lee Nelson
Comic creation of Simon Brodkin, who has already featured in Absolutely Fabulous and numerous roles in Al Murray’s recent sketch show. Barnstorming banter from lovable yob Lee Nelson, who lays life on a roguish council estate bare.

Jason Cook
Regular compere at Middlesbrough’s Big Mouth and Stockton’s Catch 22 Comedy Clubs. Huge Edinburgh Festival favourite, with two smash-hit 5-star shows in the last two years. Winner of ‘Best International Show’ award at the New Zealand Comedy Festival.

Ivan Brackenbury
Comic creation of real-life DJ Tom Binns. If.comedy (formerly Perrier) nominee at Edinburgh in 2007. Regular on BBC Radio 2 (Steve Wright, Jason Byrne, Chris Evans' shows). With games, giveaways, patients’ requests and his own special blend of music and chat, bungling hospital radio DJ Ivan captures all the fun and excitement you’d expect from being ill in hospital.

Ticket Information:

Around half the tickets for both comedy shows will be available from Hartlepool Tourist Information Centre, Church Square, Hartlepool, from 10am on Friday June 19

Tickets are limited to 4 per person for the afternoon family show, and 2 per person for The Big Mouth evening show with Sean Lock

Tickets can be claimed in person or by phone (01429 890000) between 10am-4.30pm Tues-Sat. Tickets reserved over the phone must be collected from the Tourist Information Centre during opening hours within three days of reservation

Parking / Getting Here:

Very limited parking behind Mecca Bingo. A free Park and Ride service with regular buses will be running from Tesco Extra car park (Belle Vue / A689 / McDonalds area)
