Mayoral Election May 5th 2005
STUART Drummond has been re-elected as the Mayor of Hartlepool.
The first round results were as follows: -
Stephen ALLISON - (Local Man, Local Issues, Hartlepool First) - 3,765
Ian John Henry CAMERON - (Independent) - 4,272
Stuart Fraser DRUMMOND - (Independent) - 14,227
Stan KAISER - 2,701
John LAUDERDALE - (Independent) - 1,821
Brenda PEARSON - (Conservative) - 1,482
Carl RICHARDSON - (Labour) - 5,527
The number of ballot papers rejected was 1,375 and the turnout was around 51%.
Because no candidate received 50% of the first preference votes, the top two candidates - Stuart Drummond and Carl Richardson went through to the second round and second preference votes for the other five candidates were then added.
This resulted in a further 2,685 votes for Stuart Drummond and 1,180 votes for Carl Richardson giving Stuart Drummond an overall majority of 10,205.
