Hartlepool will welcome up to 125 tall ships in 2010 after being chosen by race organisers to be the finishing point for the 2010 Tall Ships Race.
Hartlepool will greet the ships, which will have sailed from Kristiansand in Norway on the second and final leg of the race.
During their stay, the ships will be berthed in Jackson Dock and Hartlepool Marina, and there will be a host of special events organised in celebration.
Dates:
Some ships will arrive early, but all ships must be in port at Hartlepool Quays by 12 noon on Saturday 7th August 2010 and that's when the fun will begin!
Activities and events will commence at 11am and run up until 11pm each day
The Tall Ships weekend will reach a climactic peak at the "Eve of Sail" spectacular in the evening of Monday 9th August which is traditionally the most popular and memorable event of the Tall Ships celebrations. This marks the end of the Tall Ships' stay in Hartlepool and is guaranteed to draw in crowds of visitors.
The Parade of Sail on Tuesday 10th August is when we bid farewell to the ships as they ceremoniously parade out of Hartlepool Quays, along the coast and back to their home town or next destination.

It is expected that accommodation will book up very early so booking as early as you can is highly recommended.

If you're using Google Maps or SatNav for directions to the town, the Hartlepool Maritime Experience (TS24 0XZ) is a good point of reference however a number of roads will be closed and "park & ride" or "park & stride" operations put in place so please follow local signage.
