The Blueflies + JAK: Saturday 27th March

The Studio’s R&B Club continues its regular last Saturday of the month gigs with York Legends, The Blueflies. They were formed about 20 years ago when Grammy Nominated guitarist Miles Gilderdale and Bass Player extraordinaire Gavin Ewing teamed up with drummer Trevor “Fatha” King.

In 2002 Miles was awarded the coveted Gibson Jazz Guitarist of the Year Award for his work with Smooth Jazz outfit Acoustic Alchemy. He is recognised and admired as “the guitarists’ guitarist”.

Fatha, so old now that his damp course has failed, has been drumming for over forty years. His ability to communicate with Miles telepathically makes the Blueflies one of the tightest bands you will ever see.
Gavin “Paradiso” Ewing completes the rhythm section providing a brilliant, if understated bass line.

Playing a unique blend of Soul, Rock, Blues, R&B, Jazz and Funk with passion, brilliance and humour a good time is guaranteed for all!

“Likened to anyone who ever wielded a guitar with style and guts, Miles has worked on stage with the likes of Ben E King, Ron Wood, and Jools Holland but it is with the Blueflies that he excels...... “

“........What made this band so impressive was not simply the precision of their playing, but also the sense of fun and enjoyment with which they played. This was a performance of polished, original, perfectly paced and compulsive entertainment. The Blueflies work WITH the audience, not TO them, and transmit their enjoyment so positively that the audience were soon screaming for more..........”

“When your mojo’s been mojoed to death and you want something a bit more substantial.....The Blueflies will sort you out. ”

Plus sharing the stage with them will be Hartlepool’s own JAK fronted by guitar wizard Alan Plaice with probably the best rhythm section around :- Johnny Brownsett on Bass Guitar and Kenny Ward on Drums. This band are a must see for Clapton / Cream / Hendrix fans.
