What's On in Hartlepool - Hartlepool Events
The Fylingdales Group of Artists This Group which was founded in 1925, usually hold one exhibition a year at the Pannett Art Gallery, Whitby, although they occasionally hold other Exhibitions at different venues, this year Hartlepool.
It is traditional for them to meet formally a group once a year, following their Annual Exhibition for their Annual General Meeting.
As members are scattered over a large area, it is a measure of the strength of the group that members are prepared to travel quite long distances to attend. The main bond between them is a love of Yorkshire, its coastline, and of painting.
During the years, many well known artists have been members including Algernon Newton, R.A., Roland Hill, Florence Hess, Albert Pile, Harry Bateman, and many more.
The group to open to amateur and professional artists and when a vacancy occurs, membership is by invitation only.

| Drawing Together Six schools from the region took part in this year long, Creative Partnerships Tees Valley project which aimed to arm both pupils and teaching staff with the skills, resources and inspiration to draw. It also seeks to establish drawing within education as an important, yet often overlooked subject in its own right.
The work takes its source material from the natural and man made worlds along the journey made by the River Tees.
Professional artists Jake Attree, Jack Chesterman and Jo Chesterman led the project and worked closely with the pupils and teachers involved.
This is a stunning collection of high standard artwork demonstrates how talent is prevalent amongst our region?s schools. These pupils are from English Martyrs Secondary School and Sixth Form College, Hartlepool; Tollesby School and Easterside Primary School, Middlesbrough; Kilton Thorpe School, Brotton; Mount Pleasant Primary School and Holy Family Primary, Darlington.

| Hartlepool Maritime Festival 2008 It?s Back
Hartlepool Maritime Festival 2008 once again promises a three-day spectacular featuring some gigantic harbourside entertainment for all the family. This year, however expect to see some changes as due to exciting developments on Maritime Avenue the site has altered, meaning that a great deal of the activities now are taking place on the Middleton Road side of the Marina and along Navigation Point ? the site for lots of evening entertainment amongst the restaurants and bars.
The year 2000 saw the first of Hartlepool?s Maritime Festivals and since then it has gone from strength to strength, year this biennial event attracts more and more visitors from around the region.
In 2005 Hartlepool was a cruise-in-company port to the Tall Ships? Races on their way to Newcastle. We welcomed over 35 ships and the two day events say record visitor numbers of around 175,000.
Following that weekend, the ships? captains could see that Hartlepool was very much a ?can-do? town, very ambitious and forward thinking and proved that it could host a world class event. We made a determined effort to become host port for the event in 2010 and just days before the 2006 Maritime Festival we were delighted to hear that we had been successful and were to host the final leg of this prestigious race in August 2010. For more information about the Tall Ships? Races and to request news of progress of the organisation, visit www.hartlepooltallships2010.com
